"I am an athlete"
Since starting High Function Fitness I have noticed much more definition and visible muscle in my body since starting. This program is different for me because I am an athlete and have a lot of experience with working out prior to starting High Function Fitness. However, never before have I have I been given the opportunity to grow and learn so much about what my capabilities are and the positive effects I can have on my body by doing the type of fitness that High Function Fitness provides.
My life has been changed by this program. My friends and family could tell you that I never stop talking about this gym and the coaches because they has given me something that I wish everybody could experience. High Function Fitness is not just a gym for me. The changes that I have seen in my life that are not physical outway the physical benefits 9 out of 10 times. The self confidence I have gained from this program stretch much farther than giving you a list of my PR’s and how much weight I can lift off of the floor. This confidence has stretched to every single part of my life. The confidence in being alone, the confidence to speak up and give my honest opinion, the confidence in being completely exhausted at the end of a workout but knowing that I can and will finish the workout. The confidence in doing movements and exercises I thought I would never in a million years be able to do but completing it and having Jeremy standing next to me saying “you can do more”. There are so many small parts of my life that have been greatly benefited by Jeremy and Emily I could never imagine my life without it now. From growing relationships with people to knowing that I can complete a workout RX’d, I truly have seen such a difference. I could never thank Jeremy and Emily enough for taking the time to get to know me as an individual and pushing me outside of my comfort zone every day when I walk into the gym. They know what I am capable of but getting me to know that I’m capable of it too is truly an amazing gift that these two coaches have. That right there is what is what sets Jeremy and Emily apart from any other qualified trainers. They take the time to get to know their members and push them to be the best they can possibly be. That is why I continue to wake up at 6AM everyday and show up at High Function Fitness, because starting off my day in such a positive environment with people who have the same mindset and goals as me, push me to be the best version of myself that I can be.
Jeremy and Emily have two different coaching styles that go so well together and you get so much out of each day of training at this gym. Regardless of their personal moods or how sore they are from their own workouts, they give us smiling faces, a positive environment and encouraging words every single day. That right there is what sets High Function Fitness apart from any other gym that I’ve ever been apart of. Part of the reason why I had so much insecurity when it came to working out was because of previous coaches who never took the time to get to know me and see what coaching style worked for me. A coach would say, “Everything is going to be harder for you because you’re tall” and “You are going to have to work that much harder than everyone else because you’re tall” in hopes that it would motivate me. Although those statements might be true with some exercises, that type of coaching wasn’t one that created motivation instead, it created doubt and fear. Those coaches would have known that if they took the time to get to know me. The difference with High Function Fitness is that instead of pointing out that I’m tall and I need to work harder at certain movements, they showed me what exercises I would be stronger with instead of focusing on the negatives. They take the time to get to know every one of their members as individuals and see what motivates them instead of trying one method for all. It’s their characters and it’s a love for what they do and helps us as members love it just as much.
To anyone considering signing up for a program like high function fitness I would say go in and tell them your goals. Tell them what you want to achieve and tell them about who you are. After that, they will be able to tell you exactly what this program offers and how it can benefit your life everyday. High function fitness is my team and my favorite part about this gym is when the time runs out and the workout is over, it’s not completely finished until you give and get a high five from every person in your class. It becomes your own little community and you become held accountable by the coaches and people in your class. I would say go for it because your life might just be changed for the good.
I consistently started doing semi private classes with Jeremy and Emily in the winter of 2016/2017 when I was home from college on my winter break. This is when I made the conscious decision to take in their knowledge and learn as much as I possibly could from them and their experience so I could finally put aside my overwhelming doubt in myself. When I made that decision, so many doors opened up for me and it allowed so much room for growth. Jeremy has the most amazing ability to put words to exactly what you are feeling throughout a workout. Over time he has gained my trust and if he says that I can do something, I believe him. It has taken much more than my winter break home to break my fear and insecurity with working out and build my mental toughness. I used to mentally check out, want to cry, get down on myself and shut down throughout workouts. Talking and working through what is going on in my head, they have helped me turn my want to break down in tears and feel sorry for myself to me getting angry and finishing the workout to best of my ability. Semi private training has helped build my mental toughness and having that one on one time with Jeremy and Emily has made my experience here so much more enjoyable
